1 Quarter Down, 3 To Go! 

With First Quarter checked off, keep reading for what's in store in HCLA's Leadership Headquarters during 2nd Quarter! We return ready to hit the ground running next Monday, October 24th promptly at 8:00 am!

With beginning of year assessments, introductory lessons, and first units complete, the bar has been raised for student academic responsibility! Help ensure your child/children exceed that bar by continuing to check communication folders, helping with homework, regularly communicating with their teachers, and having them in school on time daily. 
Special Events
  • October 24th - First Day of 2nd Quarter
  • October 24th-October 28th Book Fair
    • October 24-25th are Book Fair Previews
    • October 26th is Grandparents Day, Grandparents can come purchase books with their grandchildren. 
    • October 8th the Book Fair is open until 6:30. 
  • October 28th - International Festival 1:15- 2:15
    • Classes will each represent a country from around the world in a school parade, and will taste test foods from the countries represented. 
    • Kenya (Kindergarten), Jamaica (1st Grade), Dominican Republic (2nd Grade), Philippines (3rd Grade), Argentina (4th Grade), Italy (5th Grade)
  • October 31st - SuperHero Day! (Hero Costumes only)
    • Students are allowed to dress out of uniform to dress up as superheroes on this day.
    • Students in costumes other than superheroes will be asked to change clothes. 
Eagle-Demics Afterschool Tutoring
Eagle-Demics Tutoring will begin Tuesday, October 25th after school. 
  • Eagle-Demics is open to students grades 3rd-5th by staff or parent recommendation. 
  • Eagle-Demics is open to 2nd grade students by teacher recommendation.

In 2nd Quarter, we are all about tracking our Data! Students will learn more about the importance of setting goals and how to stay on track with accomplishing these goals. We will work more on tracking our data through the use of graphs and other visual aids. Be sure to have conversations with your children about their academic goals and support them in accomplishing these goals even while at home!
