One Week Down, Nine to Go!

We had an awesome first week back at Hope Charter! Your children came in focused, refreshed, and ready to learn! We hope to keep the momentum going! Remember to keep the conversation going surrounding their goals in their classroom!

Thank You!
Mrs. Fleming and the staff at Hope want to thank you as parents and guardians, as our school attendance was higher this week than average! On top of that teachers and staff could see a difference in most students regarding their effort, focus, and participation in class!
Leadership Nugget

Quote of the Week
"If it doesn't CHALLENGE, it won't CHANGE you."
-Fred DeVito.

In Leadership Meeting, students will be working on their strategies for their academic wildly important goals (WIGs), and their personal WIGs. While setting these goals, your children will be reminded to set reasonable goals that will motivate their success.

Habits at Home:
Set a household goal with your family at home. We use the term "X to Y by when" which means to have a start point, an endpoint, and a deadline. Try using this model at home, and don't forget to brainstorm strategies that will help ensure your family meets this goal.

Examples of goals you can try:
  • Enjoy 30 minutes of family time 4 days out of the week.
  • Increase the number of books we read in a month from 2 to 3 by February 28th, 2017.
Science Teacher, Mrs. Chambers-Smith, and Music Teacher, Mr. Garrett (pictured above) teamed together in the Science Explorers club and had a ball teaching the students how to make slime!
Important Dates
  • January 25th: Board Meeting
  • Februrary 17th: Early Release
  • March 3rd: Student Led Data Chats
Dress out Fridays

As apart of our leadership model, students earn the privilege to dress out of uniform on Fridays. In order to dress out on Fridays, students must earn green or above on the clip charter throughout the week. Attendance and punctuality also are apart of the dress out criteria. If a student is absent 2 or more days out of the week, they may not dress out of uniform. If a student is tardy 3 or more days out of the week, they may not dress out. Thank you for your attention to this policy.
2nd Semester Clubs!
This past Friday, we had our first club day of 2nd semester! Your children signed up for a club they would like to attend on the First Friday of each month and some early release days!
