|From your ADEPT President
As I write this today the headlines are dominated by our exit from the European Union. Today Article 50 has finally been triggered. We have some interesting times ahead and we need to make sure we use our influence over the next couple of years to ensure we get the right social, economic and environmental outcomes in a post-Brexit world.
It’s been another busy month. I met with the Hemming Group – I am speaking at Traffex 2017 on 4th April, and was interviewed for a podcast (see here
) about the Government’s draft Industrial Strategy. I also met with DCLG’s Regeneration Team – look out for an announcement about ‘Trailblazer Towns’ soon.
The monthly Leadership Team telecom discussed the draft ADEPT response to the consultation on the Government’s Green Paper Growing our Industrial Strategy. This is shaping up well; it will go round the Leadership Team one more time before being finalised. If you’d like to see it, please contact David Dale (email@example.com
). We will discuss our response to the White Paper Fixing the Broken Housing Market at the April meeting. In the meantime, the ADEPT / CEDOS / LGA Housing White Paper workshop takes place in London Friday 31st March – if you’d like to attend, email Jasmin Barnicoat (Jasmin.Barnicoat@eastsussex.gov.uk
Finally – many thanks to our departing finance officer, Sarah Broadley, and welcome to June Meadows, who starts 1st April. We also say a sad farewell to our policy officer, Laura Newcombe, whom many of you will know. Hannah Bartram is the process of recruiting a permanent administrator; and is also keen to recruit some policy support. More on this soon.
