Wildcat Chat: Monthly e-newsletter from the Cassville R-IV School District
January 2017
School Board Recognition Week: During the week of January 22-28, communities across the state of Missouri will honor the dedicated service of local boards of education during School Board Recognition Week.
Our community and our students benefit every day from the countless volunteer hours devoted by our Board of Education members--for that, we say THANK YOU!
It is January in Missouri and that means one thing: the weather is unpredictable! With temperatures dropping to extreme lows without much warning, we encourage our students to wear a coat everyday.
Tips on avoiding weather-related illnesses caused by exposure to cold weather include:
  • wear layers of clothing
  • wear warm socks and weather resistant shoes or boots
  • prevent heat loss and protect skin by wearing a hat, scarf, gloves or mittens
  • change clothing if it becomes wet
  • get plenty of rest and eat a hot meal before coming to school (we begin serving breakfast at 7:40 a.m.)
Although students try to keep track of their belongings, sometimes things get misplaced. We recommend writing your child's name on their outerwear so if it is misplaced and somebody finds it, it can be returned to the right owner. Missing something? Don't forget to check the lost and found!

Intermediate school math champions: After completing mid-year math exams in December, intermediate staff evaluated the test results and celebrated third grade students that were able to correctly complete 20 math facts in one minute, fourth graders had to complete 23 facts in one minute and fifth grade students had to complete 25 facts in one minute.
One third grade student, six fourth grade students and 17 fifth grade students were able to correctly answer the required number of math facts.

CMS Makes Donation to Woodmore Elementary: CMS math students in Mrs. Tanya Ketchum's class were saddened to hear about the bus accident at Woodmore Elementary in Chattanooga, Tennessee and wanted to help! Students decided they could help by hosting volleyball and basketball competitions between the students, faculty and staff. Donations were accepted at the door and together CMS was able to collect $500 that will be donated to Woodmore Elementary!
