An update on what we've been working on
Following the update we emailed you last month we'd like to thank you for your patience whilst we've been a little quiet on the ebulletin front, but assure you that the Summer has been a very busy time!
Women on the Tools’ trustees and its eight-strong group of advisors recently came together for a "Think In" about the organisation’s future. The meeting served to stimulate a renewed clarity of focus for the organisation, following our relaunch as primarily a campaign to ‘make women on the tools the norm, not the exception’.
We emerged from the Think In with one overarching aim; To increase awareness of the unsatisfactory position, and the huge potential of tradeswomen in the UK; and in order to help achieve this aim, it was decided that we should develop a "Quality Mark" for use by employers; to demonstrate a firm commitment to making tradeswomen the norm, not the exception in their organisations; and to guide them in their efforts to enhance their ability to successfully attract, recruit and retain tradeswomen.
Work on this mark has begun, and following some valuable input from an expert (made possible by generous funding from three of our advisors) as well as feedback from our main stakeholder groups, we are hoping to be able to share some initial thinking with you as the work progresses. So please watch this space!
