Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Ismael D. Sueno today lauded concerned local government units (LGUs) for their “swift and effective disaster preparedness and response before and during the onslaught of super typhoon Lawin” last week.
Sueno said it is evident that the country has learned its lessons from Yolanda as LGUs in Regions 1, 2, 3, CALABARZON, V and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) had undertaken the necessary measures, including preemptive evacuation, and alerted families within their areas of the dangers that they may face if they refuse to heed the directive of authorities.
Construction firm donates P23.493 M
to DILG for mega rehab center
One of the 13 taipans who recently promised to help the DILG in the drug rehabilitation program has taken the initial step to fulfill his promise.
Mr. Ronald Elepano, Jr. first Vice President of D.M. Consunji, Incorporated (DMCI) recently handed over to DILG Secretary Ismael D. Sueno the check amounting to P23.493 million as the company’s donation for the said program.
DILG Secretary Ismael Sueno has rallied local chief executives to support the Department’s programs that will help bring down illegal drugs, corruption and criminality in the country.
Sueno issued the call to local chief executives from Regions 1, 2, 3 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) in the third of the series of dialogues called Sulong Pilipinas held recently at the Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati City.
Eleven additional jail facilities to be built
CALAMBA, LAGUNA – DILG Secretary Ismael “Mike” Sueno assured the public of the ongoing bidding process for the construction of 11 additional Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facilities amounting to P366-million in Region IV-A (Calabarzon).
Sueno said the additional jail facilities will be built on the male and female dorms of Naic Municipal Jail, Tanza Municipal Jail, Imus City Jail, San Pablo City Jail and Calamba City Jail.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has approved the reassignment of key senior officers of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) as part of the career development of its senior officers.
DILG Secretary Ismael D. Sueno said the movement is in line with the provisions of RepubIic Act (RA) 9263 otherwise known as “An Act Providing for the Professionalization of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)and its implementing Rules and Regulations”.
PNP-IAS commended for helping
‘cleanse’ police organization
DILG Secretary Ismael D. Sueno recently lauded the Philippine National Police (PNP) Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) for remaining true to its mandate of cleansing the police organization of misfits and scalawags.
Citing a report submitted by PNP- IAS Director, Chief Supt. Leo Angelo Leuterio, Sueno said PNP- IAS has so far conducted 1,261 motuproprio investigations on the deaths during police anti-illegal drug operations.
