WVUES Oil and Natural Gas Program Update
Changes are coming to the West Virginia University Extension Service’s Oil and Natural Gas Education Program.  Long-time program coordinator, Georgette Plaugher will be leaving on June 30 as the temporary position she has held since 2010 is expiring.  However, the WVU Extension Service (WVUES) plans to continue the program and is in the process of appointing a new program coordinator.
“Over the past 6 years, I have enjoyed working with a variety of folks in relation to the development of oil and gas resources in West Virginia”, said Plaugher.

After a grant to fund the program was secured by former WVUES Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Program Unit Director, Jennifer Williams in 2010, Georgette was tasked with organizing the WVUES Oil and Gas Team, coordinating educational programs, designing and maintaining the website, collaborating with others within and outside of West Virginia, and assisting the public with requests for information.

“Being a part of the WVUES Oil and Gas Program gave me the opportunity to meet a diverse group of people and hear both their concerns and enthusiasm for oil and gas exploration.  After 18 years with WVU and 13 years with the WVU Extension Service, I will greatly miss the opportunities to learn and help others.”
