REshape Newsletter #3/17

“When was the last time you did
something for the first time?”

- John C. Maxwell

Last month we told you that we love the unknown and so explore new worlds to innovate healthcare at REshape. That's why often we often have to try things for the first time.

It might feel scary sometimes to try something for the first time, but when you dó succeed it gives all the energy you need! Especially when you can work together with patients and with a great team of colleagues and students.

- The REshape Team

What do patients want and expect of Digital Health solutions?

At the request of Novartis we gave a workshop for members of the Patient Academy to work on this question. We first explained the principles of Design Thinking and then used them for the first steps in 'solving' the question.

Novartis launched the Patient Academy in 2008 with the objective to support patient organizations in their role in the Dutch healthcare system. Knowledge and work-experience is shared within the academy, providing a platform for discussion and collaboration.

Health Innovation Academy

To cope with future challenges in healthcare, a competency in innovation is now the imperative. The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport has partnered with REshape to create the Health Innovation Academy.
It is the the only innovation training program in the Netherlands designed for current & future health system leaders to master the knowledge, behaviours, tools & skills to build the future of Dutch health(care).

Sticking to your exercises

We aim to help patients live their daily lives with the least worries about their disease or treatment. Sometimes technology can be used to work on that goal. We often meet startup companies that use new technologies to build creative solutions. This time we brought the two together with support of the NFU-ehealth program.

The 'new kids in town' Technical Physicians

The video above gives an introduction about a new group of people in hospitals: the technical physicians. The safe and innovative use of medical technology calls for healthcare professionals with specific expertise. They are specialists with knowledge and skills in the fields of both medicine and technology, which they can use to improve healthcare for individual patients. The specialized education technical medicine, jumps on this need. In the REshape team Mats Koeneman is our Technical Physician.
