Dear Gen Ed & Humanities TFs,
Welcome to the Program in General Education’s Head TF mailing list!  We look forward to supporting you this term as you teach Gen Ed or Humanities courses. We realize that some of you may soon begin preparing for your spring term courses, and we wanted you to know about these key resources for Head TFs before winter break:

  • Head TF Mailing List
  • Head TF Orientation (Dec. 13 & Jan. 17) - please RSVP
  • Gen Ed Resources

Please be in touch with your course coordinator with any questions or concerns. We look forward to working with you!

Head TF Mailing List

As the Head TF or TF in a course without a Head TF for a spring term Gen Ed or Humanities course, you have been subscribed to a private e-mail list that will allow us to send regular updates with reminders about important dates, information relevant to teaching in your courses, and answers to some frequently asked questions. Please do not unsubscribe from this list since we will be using it for all of our official announcements to you throughout the term. Starting in early January, you will subsequently receive an update every other week throughout the term.

Head TF Orientation

To meet the needs of Head TFs, Gen Ed will be offering Head TF Orientation twice: from 10-12 on Tuesday, December 13th, and from 1-3 on Tuesday, January 17th. Come to one of these sessions and find out what you need to know to prepare for the spring term and learn what resources are available to support you. Whether you are serving as Head TF for the first time or are an experienced Head TF, we strongly encourage you to come. Head TFs who attend the orientation report that they are better prepared for the many challenges that arise during the term. If you are a TF in a course without a Head TF, you are also welcome to attend. While we will cover some logistics that are more pertinent to classes with a larger enrollment, much of what we will address is applicable to classes of any size.
  • RSVP online so we know which session you plan to attend.

Gen Ed Resources

Teaching in Gen Ed
We encourage you to explore this comprehensive resource, which includes important deadlines and information about course planning and course management, as well as key contacts. Teaching in Gen Ed follows the chronology of courses, allowing you to anticipate and prepare for questions and issues that may arise.

Course Coordinators
Serving as your primary contact within the Gen Ed Office, your course coordinator can help you with appointing teaching staff, coordinating field trips and other activities, processing reimbursements, purchasing classroom supplies, etc. Your course coordinator can also assist with any questions you have about other course logistics. Your specific contact typically depends on the Gen Ed category of the course you are teaching this term. Learn who your course coordinator is.

Gen Ed Pedagogy Fellows
Gen Ed Pedagogy Fellows Billy French (EALC), Lulie El-Ashry (Religion), and Andrew Yegian (HEB) are here to help you! Experienced Gen Ed instructors themselves, they can discuss Head TF concerns, advise individual TFs on pedagogy, lead practice teaching sessions, conduct classroom observations, help interpret mid-semester feedback, and design and lead pedagogy workshops. Please don’t hesitate to contact any of them with any questions or concerns, or to refer a member of your teaching team to them.
